about
amber bird is the frontman of varnish, supplying the lyrics, the vocals, and the most visible attitude. it should come as no surprise, then, that she thinks about music quite a lot. rather than try to find ways to turn the band’s web site into a forum for her thoughts, she decided to do the polite thing and keep her own blog. this also means she can post about non-music things without feeling off-topic.
she developed a fondness for the pleasing aesthetics of using few capital letters and plenty of ellipses long before she discovered e.e. cummings, which is something to keep in mind when you’re wondering whether she writes this way due to an ignorance of the correct way to do things.
because amber is also fond of talking about herself, she might be persuaded to explore other topics here if asked politely. please use the comments function on this page to make those requests.
note: off-limit topics include negative comments about her family or friends, what the lyrics mean, and amber’s love life (unless she brings it up with the permission of her current victim). topics she intends to cover include her history in music, what’s going on now with her music or what is affecting it (as long as it doesn’t involve an off-limit topic), what inspires and/or influences her, and answers to your questions (serious, silly, or tiger beat-esque). she is also contemplating sharing playlists with you. not the mp3s, but the title of the list and the songs in it. she likes playlists (the successor of mix tapes and mix cds).
and the army of stalkers will be thrilled to know she now plans to write on whatever she is pondering, random things she likes, and assorted life events. very thrilling for us all, i’m sure.
amber does not usually spend so much time talking about herself in the third person and promises not to make a habit of it.
